We were commissioned by Ledbury Studio to make a singular desk for their showroom. Our client Charlie Smallbone was drawn to wild, gnarled pieces of wood and sourced some walnut for us to work with. Our challenge was to create a functional surface out of the walnut while bringing in the natural, rough-hewn textures. We combined black volcanic sand with resin, which was cast onto the timber and hand-chiselled to create the tactile, raw front of the desk.
