A Conversation
Our private commissions begin with a collaborative conversation and a visit to our studio. Together, we explore ideas, materials, our process and the purpose behind the project.
Estimate & Design
We then draw up an estimate for the project, including materials, time and site visits. Once signed off, we charge a percentage of this as a design fee – usually around 10%, depending on the size and nature of the commission. This allows us to develop a complete design and present a final quote and delivery timeline.
Payment
Once the quote and designs have been agreed on, we require the next 40% of the fee to begin making the work. The remaining 50% is due on completion and delivery of the commission. For ease, this breaks down as:
10% – design fee*, proportional to the estimated scope of the project.
40% – non-refundable deposit to commence the build.
50% – on completion and delivery of the commission.
*Depending on the size and nature of the commission, we may charge a higher design fee.
For commissions under the amount of £5k, we will charge 100% of the amount upfront.
Timeline
Once the budget, design and materials have been signed off, we will go into production and share updates on how the piece is taking shape. Our production lead time is 12 weeks once the deposit has been settled, but we try to allow another 6-12 weeks of exploration beforehand to make sure the commission has the room to come together in a considered way. For commissions from our Herbaria collection, the lead time is approximately 6 months to allow for collecting, pressing and drying the plants.
Delivery
For UK commissions, we hand-deliver the furniture or work with you to agree on the best method of delivery for parts of the country that are harder to reach. For international deliveries, we work with respected freight companies or can work with your preferred partner if desired. UK Delivery costs are included in our quote, while international deliveries will be charged for additionally.
